Hardwood Decking
WHY IS HARDWOOD A BETTER OPTION THAN SOFTWOOD?

From strength and durability to natural resistance to fire and other hazards, hardwood provides a variety of benefits for applications that are not suitable for softwood. Hardwood is known for its resilient and adaptable nature, resulting in a product that's perfect for projects that require maximum durability. Not to mention the generally darker hue is always easy on the eyes.
IS HARDWOOD MORE EXPENSIVE THAN PINE AND OTHER TYPES OF SOFTWOODS?
Not in the long run. Hardwoods usually have higher starting prices than other species such as pine or any kind of softwood. However, because they tend to last much longer than other wood, they end up being cheaper in the long run.
HOW LONG DOES A HARDWOOD DECK LAST?
Properly maintaining your hardwood deck is the key to making it last for many, many years. Harder species, like Ipe, are known to last up to 75 years, while Garapa will last for 25-30 years. So with proper maintenance, hardwood decking will outlast most other decking alternatives.
Composite Decking
WHAT MAKES COMPOSITE DECKING A GOOD ALTERNATIVE TO SOFTWOOD?

While there are countless reasons to choose composite decking, the effortless maintenance, and incredible durability are among the top. Composite is designed to last 20-30 years while treated softwood has a lifespan of less than half. In addition the required maintenance for pressure-treated wood is estimated at more than $500 per year.
ARE COMPOSITE DECKS EXPENSIVE?
Not in the long run. Even though they cost more than pine wood up front, they are much easier to deal with and require far less maintenance over the years. You can expect considerable long-term savings on materials and labor when you choose composite solutions.
WHAT BRANDS OF COMPOSITE DECKING DO YOU CARRY?
Lumber Plus is an official retailer for the biggest brands in North America. We proudly carry Trex, TimberTech, Fiberon and Norx.
PVC Decking
WHAT ARE SOME BENEFITS OF PVC DECKING?

PVC's deeply embossed boards, with wood-grain texture on both sides, provide excellent traction, wet or dry. In addition, PVC boards require virtually no upkeep and only fade minimally over time. Because this material is completely inorganic, it is impervious to insects including termites.
WHAT TYPE OF MAINTENANCE DOES PVC REQUIRE?
PVC is virtually maintenance free and can be easily cleaned with just a quick hosing down. Stubborn stains may require mild soap and water.
