Cedar, Cypress, Oak, Mahogany, and Ash

Scroll down to see the power of Thermowood®.
The answer is pretty simple: a thermal modification process that removes moisture from the plank, making Thermowood® up to 300% dryer than all these other species. The result is an incredible building product, with countless advantages, including:
• More stability
• Reduced warping, twisting or bowing
• Up to 3x lighter than some hardwoods
• Easy to install
• Less prone to insect attacks
• All weather resistant
STEP 1: Planks enter a 266ºF chamber where the wood is dried, reducing moisture content to nearly zero.
STEP 2: Steam is released into the chamber, reaching temperatures of up to 413ºF.
STEP 3: Rapid cooling follows, while carefully spraying water to achieve a minimal moisture level of just 6%.
The Outcome: Thermowood: Through modification and breakdown of hemicellulose, the wood undergoes a permanent structural transformation, significantly reducing internal stress. The result is an exceptionally stable and lightweight wood, surpassing the durability of untreated woods like Cypress, Cedar, Oak, Mahogany, Ash, and many others.
Our warehouse image showcases Thermowood™, unveiling its captivating aesthetic compared to softwoods like Cypress.
STABILITY: When it comes to stability, softer woods like Cypress and Cedar can lose their firmness and become less reliable for external uses like decking or cladding. In contrast, Thermowood™ boasts exceptional stability thanks to reduced moisture content.
LIFESPAN: Cypress and Cedar are susceptible to harsh weather, insect attacks, and fungal damage. On the other hand, Thermowood® exhibits impressive resistance, backed by a 25-year warranty.
PRICE: While Thermowood® is priced similarly to these wood species, it proves to be a more cost-effective choice in the long run due to its superior durability for various applications.
BOARD LENGTHS: Softwood species typically reach a maximum length of 8 feet, whereas Thermowood™ is available in boards as long as 17 feet. The result? Fewer seams and a more consistent look for walls, ceilings and decking.
PERFORMANCE: Untreated hardwoods such as Mahogany, Plantation Teak, and Oak have moisture levels 2 to 3 times higher than that of Thermowood®, which often leads to warping, twisting, and bowing.
STABILITY: Ash, Mahogany, Plantation Teak, and Oak are susceptible to fungi and bacterial attacks. In contrast, thermowood® undergoes a thermal modification process that eliminates bacteria, making it highly resistant to decay, backed by a 25-year warranty.
APPEARANCE: While every wood species has its own distinctive aesthetic appeal, Thermowood® stands out with its unique appearance. The thermal process it undergoes enhances the colors and textures of each board, resulting in a truly captivating and eye-catching look.
INSTALLATION: Working with hardwoods like Ash, Mahogany, and Oak can be more challenging, resulting in longer installation times. However, hermowood® surprises with its lightweight and less dense nature, making installation a breeze.
