Based on 161 reviewsTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We ordered 105 boards with lengths of 12’(x14), 16’(x77), and 20’(x14). $1800 to ship from Miami to northern Tennessee. We have a one lane driveway that is about 1150 feet long with cattle fence running close along both sides. There is a 90-degree curve about 200 feet from the road, and the fence was widened at that curve to allow for up to a 24-foot trailer to be able to make the corner. For that reason, every time I spoke with anyone about shipping, I asked how long the truck/trailer would be. Luis Rojas was the Lumber+ person I spoke to about shipping, and he was always very nice. I was told that it would be a truck with a trailer and no forklift, but “I’m sure the driver will help you unload”. Over several conversations, I asked 3-5 different times, how long is the trailer? Each time I was told it would probably be 20 feet long, but no longer than 24 feet, at the max. When the delivery truck started into that tight curve he had to stop because he had a 40 Foot long gooseneck trailer!! He was almost 1000 feet from my house and completely unable to come any farther with no good access to the trailer from any direction. The driver spoke very little English and called his employer to act as a translator. His employer was insistent that I do whatever I could to help get this unloaded because they had taken this shipment at almost no profit and there was another load to pickup. I told him it was just me. I had no work crew. He kept insisting that I do whatever I could. I told him I paid $1800 for that shipment and it did not come as I was told it would. He chuckled out loud and said, “Oh, we didn’t get paid half of that. I won’t say anything else about how little we are making on this load.” I offered to use my tractor’s loader with forks that would hold, barely, half of the shipment at a time. I pulled my tractor up to the front of the truck and started loading the boards off the trailer, one or two at a time, until the loader was maxed. The driver sat in his air-conditioned truck and watched me unload that first half by myself. I explained to his translator that I would go unload at the house and be back as soon as I could. It was late morning, in late June, and it was hot and humid. I was light-headed and unstable when I got to the house and needed to sit and drink several gatorades for about 15-20 min. When I got back for the rest, the driver had been offloading the remaining boards along the edge of the driveway along the fence in the middle of the curve. He had thrown off all the shipping straps, plastic, spacers and other trash in a different pile along my driveway. His boss must have told him to move things along. Since he was in a hurry to leave, he helped carry the boards still on the trailer (about half of the remaining load) to my tractor. He left the other half of the boards on the ground. Then he tried to back up, but the gooseneck trailer kept inching farther off the driveway and closer to that pile of boards. He had to get out and help move those remaining boards to my tractor loader. After this, every time he tried to pull forward and go back with a different approach, he got closer to the fence. I stopped him and told his translator I would take my tractor, after unloading it again, into the pasture to use the loader to push his trailer back up on the driveway. When I finished unloading the 2nd time, I drove into the pasture. After 3-4 pushes, and 10-15 more forward & back moves by the truck/trailer, he was able to back out. I broke one of my loader forks in the process. He waved and gave a thank you motion and left. This is what $1800 for. And for future reference, it appears that the drivers will NOT surely help you unload, unless they are under a serious time crunch and you aren’t unloading fast enough by yourself. TO Lumber+: I know you aren’t directly responsible for the shipping. However, you need to do a much better job of communicating when a customer tells you about trailer size limitations. And where did more than half of $1800 go if the people who actually did the shipping didn’t receive it? Lance ShafferTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google.
